A Foggy Day in London Town

As if the weather knew of our plans to visit London and had decided we needed the authentic experience, London’s skies met us with a light drizzle. Training into the city, most of us started the day by visiting Shakespeare’s Globe. It is amazing to think about the extent to which his works permeate the English speaking world.

At London Bridge.

After getting lost and walking in the completely opposite direction along the Thames for 20 or so minutes, we made our way towards Westminster Abby and Parliament to meet up with Tera. The Parliament building is so magnificence and overshadowing, especially when it emerges from nowhere as you ascend the steps of the subway exit.

Big Ben.

Later we came upon Buckingham Palace as we took a stroll through St. James Park. With the British jack aloft, it is very likely the Queen was home as we looked on. See the previous post to view a video we took there.

With feet becoming tired, almost everyone went to Hyde Park while Ben and I made our way over to visit the department store Harrod’s. With six levels of shopping available, Harrod’s is only comparable to Macy’s on 5th avenue of New York City.

Having covered a large geographical portion of the city, the hour and a half train ride home was a welcomed relief. With most of the group relinquishing to the fatigues of a day well traveled, most slept on the way back home. While London lived up to being Frank Sinatra’s foggy London town, I believe we will remember that “The sun was shining everywhere.”

  1. hannah looks like royalty, and you aren't looking too bad yourself... obviously the city is treating you well, and you are embracing the Parliamentry experience! Good to see. I know it may take you while to be won over, but eventually I'm sure you'll admit the superiority of the crown. =) LOL
